Founded in 1987, SonShine Preschool's purpose is to provide a rich learning environment for children that places God at the center. We seek to integrate God's Truth in all we do, to daily convey God’s love to each child, and to foster a natural wonder about God's creation.
Because we believe parents are a child’s most important teachers, our second purpose is to support our parents in any way we can. Our desire is to love and care for our children and families in a way that fosters community and encourages spiritual growth and a love for Jesus.
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
"Play is the brain’s favorite way of learning.” Diane Ackerman
We are a developmental play-based preschool. Throughout the day, children are given opportunities for free, creative play, as well as time outdoors.

Annie grew up in Austin, attended the University of Texas, graduated with a degree in Education, and taught in both public and private schools before moving to Rwanda, Africa, to work as the Education Director at a home for orphans. While there, she also taught a Pre-K class and English to a small group of women. After almost two years, God closed that door and brought her back to Austin, although Africa will always have a piece of her heart. After several years in the classroom, God provided a job within Austin Ridge for her to serve as the Director of SonShine School. Annie loves and enjoys her job - the staff, the children, and the parents! When not at SonShine, she enjoys CG, all things outdoors, and lots of time with family, friends, and her husband.

Born and raised on a citrus farm in deep south Texas, Lorraine is the oldest of eight children. After graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in Early Childhood Education and English, she married her husband John and worked in state government for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her four children (three sons and a daughter). When her last left for college, she found SonShine Preschool. What started as an activity to occupy her empty nest time has grown into an extended family and a ministry. Lorraine is passionate about SonShine Preschool and its vision, and believes it is the best “job” in the world!
Lorraine can often be found somewhere on the hike and bike trail, babysitting her grandchildren here and in Colorado, or watching football and basketball with her husband. She is sure that chips and salsa are a part of every good and perfect meal!
